About Hopeful Hearts
Hopeful Hearts of San Lucas was founded by individuals who have traveled to San Lucas Tolimán on mission trips through Friends of San Lucas. During these visits, we formed deep relationships with the local people—connections that inspired us to take action.
Moved by their warmth, resilience, and the challenges they face, we created Hopeful Hearts of San Lucas to raise funds and extend meaningful support to more families in need. We partner closely with Friends of San Lucas to support the 16 communities that make up the municipality, working together to bring hope and opportunity where it’s needed most.

At Hopeful Hearts of San Lucas, we are dedicated to uplifting the community of San Lucas, Toliman in Guatemala. Our mission is to raise funds and resources to provide essential support, including beds, food, and housing for families in need.

San Lucas Tolimán is a vibrant municipality located in the Sololá department of Guatemala, nestled on the southeastern shore of the beautiful Lago de Atitlán. The town is home to approximately 17,000 people, with another 17,000 living in surrounding villages. The population is predominantly Highland Maya.

One bag of food provides enough food for a family of 4 for one week. The cost of one bag is $17.00. It contains the basic food items that they need, like corn, beans and rice.

A queen size mattress that is flippable, costs $280.00. The mattress is purchased from a local vendor, then delivered to the family's house. Some families that need a mattress sleep on wood that is put together to form a bed.
